Village Wok, one of the
most well-known authentic Chinese restaurants in the Twin
Cities, has offered its customers a multitude of oriental
gourmet dishes for over 25 years.
The Village Wok first opened in 1975 when several foreign
students from Hong Kong attending the University of Minnesota opened
the restaurant. However, after two years, they decided to let others
take over so that they could focus more on their education.
Several New York chefs originally from Hong Kong bought out the
restaurant and expanded the business. The menu has been
significantly diversified to meet the growing desires of customers.
Currently, Village Wok serves every major style of Chinese
cuisines, including Cantonese, Shanghainese,
Sichuan, Hunan, and Peking.
In order to satisfy customers with different preferences for
flavor and eating habits, there are close to a hundred different dishes served everyday in the
restaurant, ranging from vegetarian specials to freshly prepared
seafood.
Moreover, due to its proximity to the U of M Twin Cities
campus, crowds of hungry and busy college students visit the
restaurant daily. With their lively nightlife of studying
late and passion for fine food, Village Wok has extended its
open hours, running from 11:00 a.m. to
1:45 a.m. every day since 1981.
It has truly become the only authentic Chinese restaurant in Twin
Cities offering such flexible hours to its customers. Village Wok
continuously earns rave reviews and awards from organizations like
the Minnesota Daily, Reader, and Star Tribune
for its excellent service to the growing population of Twin Cities
customers who know how to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine.
